Review #1,524: Lil' Elt & DJ Tee "Uptown"

Reviewed on 9.21.2016 (Review #1,524)

Here comes Review #02 fa today: Lil’ Elt & DJ Tee Uptown, released in 1993 on In The House Records & produced by DJ Tee! Start Time: 3:34 PM | End Time: 4:03 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. The Beginning
>>> Sounds nice with these samples and this dark, bass-y beat! Nice lil’ check in from y’all, too, comin’ through, anticipatin’ tha release! My Rating: N/A

02. “Get The Gat (Remix)”
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…! A whoppin’ 7:35 on tha length!! >>> A bounce-like beat wit samples goin’ through it… I’m definitely diggin’ tha eerie sound throughout tha 1st verse, as well as these consistent rhymes! Nice job, y’all! Feelin’ tha hook wit all tha “get the gat, get the gat…” shit; nice and fast! Lol @ tha 2nd verse with tha “dick-suckin’ hoes, nut-suckin’ hoes;” crazy! Kinda long fa a joint, but it ain’t too bad ta get through… My Rating: 4.2

½time: Only one track, so far; you see da review! With that bein’ said, this a 4.2-rated tape, so far!

03. “Uptown”
Title track… >>> Beat’s nice and dark/’90s-like, as well as tha way you’re comin’ through on tha 1st verse, Elt! Lots of rhymin’, here, on tha 1st verse; where’s tha transition? Okay, here it iz, at tha 3:00 mark… Just a lil’ sample goin’ on wit tha hook, here; decent… Well, it seems like there was only one verse fa somethin’ wit 5:38 on tha length! Crazy… Just a long beat outro, here, fa tha hook/ending? My Rating: 3.8

04. “Killin’ ‘Em Hoes”
>>> Sounds like a lil’ skit in tha beginning…; kinda quiet? Hearin’ tha beat around :42 and it sounds nice with tha way tha sample sounds… Beat’s pretty nice, here; let’s see how tha rhymes go… Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; you flowin’ nicely, Elt… Tha hook’s pretty catchy; not bad fa an ol’-skool joint… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too… Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, here; keep it goin’, keep it flowin’… My Rating: 4.0

05. “You Know ‘Em When You See ‘Em”
Endin’ it wit 7:41 on tha length… >>> Tha beat kinda plain but it flows for an ending song… Tha 1st verse’s not too bad, here; gotta rhyme! Tha hook? Sounds like a lil’ interlude, here… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ decent, here…; can’t complain… I like tha shit after tha 2nd verse about tha “shmokin’;” gotta shmoke dat good!! Tha 3rd verse’s nice for tha start with “livin’ large;” gotta! And, a really-long beat outro, here…; no wonder tha long length. My Rating: 3.5

Overall: I thought this was a nice release; can’t complain… Some tracks sounded a lil’ long with a lotta long interludes/outros, but it ain’t do too bad… Of course, it was good; props for this release, y’all…
