Review #1,542: DM Space "Nothing 2 Lose"

Reviewed on 9.26.2016 (Review #1,542)

Got my 2nd review fa today: DM Space Nothing 2 Lose, released in 1995 on Action Pack Records & South Funk Music! This was produced by DM Space, himself! Start Time: 10:45 AM | End Time: 11:17 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
>>> Diggin’ your voice, here; all about “space”—“Space,” I mean, lol! Nice beat ta back you up with this “intro,” too… My Rating: N/A

02. “Kan’t See Me”
>>> Beat sounds nice and plain fa an old school one… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad; a lil’ laidback and regular rappin’ at its finest… I like tha TLC “Creep” beat in tha background on tha hook; decent hook, too… Really, tha hook’s just tha title said 2x, but it’s cool… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here… Hearin’ tha “Creep” in tha background, a lil’… Compared to tha last review I did (Dirty Red & Lil’ Bay), their gangsta shit was upbeat, aggressive and rowdy. This gangsta shit on tha 2nd verse’s too calm fa me. Like, it’s cool ta spit dat gangsta shit, but I’d rather hear it more on an energetic vibe than a Q-Tip/A Tribe Called Quest-type vibe… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s decent, too… My Rating: 3.5

03. “Gettin’ My Cash On” feat. Danita
Let’s see, here… >>> Quiet beat start with a lil’ soul start… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s a female, singin’ tha hook… It’s kinda catchy, tho I’m not tha craziest about this kinda shit… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad… If this tha vibe this CD gon have, then most these jointz just gon be aight fa me… Hearin’ your voice more on this and it’s soundin’ nice wit tha New Orleans sound in your voice… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here… Tha 3rd verse straight but this joint gettin’ a lil’ borin’… My Rating: 3.4

04. “Advisory”
>>> Doin’ a “gangsta boogie” in tha beginning, here, with tha Barry White sample goin’ on, this time… Nice job with tha hook/beginning and this beat’s catchy fa a plain-soundin’ one… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s straight… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t too bad, too; not bad fa this joint… My Rating: 3.7

05. “Nowhere Da Go (Remix)” feat. Donald
>>> Beat a lil’ plain, once again… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it straight; can’t complain… Diggin’ tha creepy sound that comes in every two bars! Now, that’s an ear-catcher!! Tha hook has some singin’ on it…; it ain’t that bad… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice, but I can’t say much… Nice 3rd verse, too; can’t complain… My Rating: 3.8

½time: Production’s mainly plain and tha rappin’s just decent fa me, here, with this release… Only a 3.6-rated release, so far…

06. “Nite Cruisin’”
>>> Kinda feelin’ this one a lil’ betta. I’m feelin’ tha vibe of tha “nite cruisin’,” includin’ how you comin’ through on tha 1st verse, like you always do… Tha 2nd verse sounds aight, here; can’t complain… Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, too… My Rating: 3.8

07. “Brang Da House Down”
>>> A lil’ more energy in this beat, tho still plain. It’s like, there’s not many sounds comin’ outta it and I don’t get much of a vibe off of it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like regular rappin’ from tha ‘90s, here… Tha hook real simple and quick; nothin’ ta say about it… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s aight, too; I know, I’m not sayin’ much… Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, here…; again, I don’t have much feedback… My Rating: 3.5

08. “Who Yeah Rutin’ Fa”
>>> Beat sounds like it’s samplin’ ‘90s rap in tha background, here, and it ain’t too bad, “fa” a start… Tha hook ain’t too bad; it’s like you’re tryin’ too hard ta channel energy, tho… Tha 2nd verse’s straight; can’t complain, can’t brag… Tha 3rd verse straight, too; let’s continue… My Rating: 3.6

09. “Don’t Want None (’96)”
Even tho it says it was released in ’95, here’s a “‘96” newbie? Maybe, it’s for “‘96”? >>> Beat’s calm, rhymes on tha 1st verse’s decent… Tha 2nd verse straight; nothin’ really goin’ on wit this at all… My Rating: 3.1

10. “Nowhere Da Go”
Original version? >>> Beat sounds too soulful fa me ta like… Slower than tha previous version and tha 1st verse sounds okay/nothin’ special… Tha 2nd verse has a good story goin’ but I’m gettin’ bored of hearin’ a track! Tha 3rd verse decent, here, too… My Rating: 3.0

Overall: I believe this tha 1st time eva where I reviewed a CD and every song was a 3.0 – 3.9! Nothin’ else! With that bein’ said, I didn’t love any songs and I didn’t hate any songs! This was just a decent CD; that’s it. Beats were mainly plain, rhymes were okay & tha deliveries were kinda boring fa me…
