My next review may not 100% be a Louisiana review, but I still count it as a part of my marathon. Tec-9, who I’ve talked to, told me about this release and I decided to add it to my marathon. The Dayton Family What’s On My Mind? iz my next review, released in 1995 on Po Broke Records & Relativity Records. Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. 02. “Smoke For Free”
>>> Feelin’ tha West Coast vibe, here, and tha 1^st verse’s soundin’ nice; diggin’ tha “smoke” content! This a “1994” track, despite this CD bein’ released in 1995… Tha hook’s pretty nice; once again, feelin’ tha West Coast vibe! I used ta be one of those that shmoked “for free.” However, after no1 was pullin’ through up here with havin’ anythang, I had ta get it out tha mud! It’s top-notch that way!! Anyway, hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and it’s pretty good, too; keep tha rhymes comin’! My Rating: 4.2

03. “I’m A Gee”

>>> Nice lil’ undaground beat fa tha ‘90s, here… Hearin’ tha 1^st verse and this shit’s official, as far as street quality. A long 1^st verse but it was worth it, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty simple, but nice! “I’m a muthafuckin’ gangsta (I’m a muthafuckin’ gee); I’m a muthafuckin’ gangsta (I’m a muthafuckin’ gee)!” Hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and it’s pretty nice, too… Hearin’ tha 3^rd verse and it’s soundin’ nice, too; can’t complain… My Rating: 4.1

04. “Potato Chip”
>>> Anotha nicely-produced track… I’m diggin’ tha energy provided in tha 1^st verse, here… Interestin’ hook on this “potato chip-ass nigga;” gah-bage, they iz, lol! Definitely catchy! Hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice, too; consistency at its finest! Tha 3^rd verse’s nice ta hear; spit it live! My Rating: 4.3

05. “Oxydol”

Nice title… >>> Beat’s nice; a lil’ more uptempo fa tha West Coast style, here… Hearin’ tha 1^st verse and y’all rollin’ dem rhymes off, once again! Gotta dig it! Hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and it’s consistent, here; definitely diggin’ tha rhymes! My Rating: 4.3

06. “Watch Yo Ass”
>>> Definitely diggin’ tha keys in this beat start; gangsta at its finest!! Hearin’ tha 1^st verse and it’s pretty nice ova this beat! Can’t deny these rhymes from these OGz! Tha hook’s kinda catchy, but mainly ‘cause tha keys in tha beat… Ooh @ 2:06 in tha beat; great beat interlude!! Now, we got tha 2^nd verse and y’all comin’ through wit tha vibe ta keep shit on-n-poppin’! My Rating: 4.3

07. “Nutty Niggaz”
>>> Jammin’ gangsta beat and tha 1^st verse’s pretty aggressive and energetic!! Tha hook’s catchy; definitely feelin’ how y’all repeat tha title! Really feelin’ tha vibe of tha start to tha 2^nd verse! Definitely gangsta at its finest! Unstoppable rhymes!! My Rating: 4.6

½time: Unstoppable CD, so far! Definitely quality fa tha undaground streetz, here; great job, y’all! A 4.3-rated CD, currently; nice!!

08. “Dope Dayton Ave.”
>>> Nice beginning with this beat and y’all intro! Great shit comin’ outta tha 1^st verse, here, strictly rhymin’ off this beat! Tha hook’s pretty catchy; definitely a “dope” avenue! Tha 2^nd verse’s keepin’ this consistent, aggressive, street shit vibin’!! Nice reference to tha “Geto Boys” with tha track, “Mind’s Playing Tricks On Me”! Tha 3^rd verse’s soundin’ nice ta hear, too… Gangsta shit at its finest! Even some mixin’ toward tha end, too, like if it was a mixtape! My Rating: 4.4

10. “Flint Niggaz Don’t Play”
>>> Feelin’ tha funky beat and how y’all comin’ through on tha 1^st verse, here… Y’all mention “Nine-Tre” a lot; most of these tracks were recorded in ’93? Tha hook sounded a lil’ catchy, even tho I’ve liked some of tha previous shit on here a lil’ more… Consistent rhymes comin’ outta tha 2^nd verse, here; can’t deny it! Gutta, consistent rhymes continuin’ in tha 3^rd verse, here! My Rating: 4.2

11. “Thru A Thang”
>>> Catchy beat start; definitely undaground-soundin’! Hearin’ tha 1^st verse and it’s pretty nice fa tha dark! Tha hook sounds catchy fa this undaground G-shit! Hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and I’m feelin’ tha beat much betta durin’ this verse! Definitely mysterious!! It’s like, what can happen 2morrow?! Who knows!! Beat’s A++!!! Rhymes are definitely nice, too!! And, we’re endin’ this with that mysterious beat; nice! My Rating: 4.5

12. “Billy Blunt”
Likin’ tha title! >>> Definitely anticipatin’ tha beat start, here! Hearin’ tha 1^st verse and I’m feelin’ tha consistent rappin’; y’all don’t stop! Tha hook sounds nice; always great ta hear a weed anthem! Or betta yet, “Tha buddha! Tha buddha!” Hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear; can’t complain! “I won’t stop smokin’ till I smoke all my B-U-D;” Y-E-A-H!! My Rating: 4.3

13. “What’s On My Mind?”
Title track, here… >>> Sounds good fa a start, here… Lol, “I got my dick in between some bitch’s breasts;” dope shit! Y’all wildin’ out on tha 1^st verse, here! “I pulled my dick out, then I pissed on tha flo’;” crazy! Gotta love y’all! Really feelin’ these descriptive, X-rated lyrics! A long 1^st verse but it’s all good… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds decent with tha background vocals… Hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and it’s decent, too… Tha title part can get repetitive, at times, and these verses can get long, at times, too… My Rating: 3.9

14. “Flint Town”

Endin’ it wit a 6:08-length track… >>> Beat’s nice fa this West Coast undaground-like style… Hearin’ tha 1^st verse and there’s a lot ta spit, here… Simple hook, here, as y’all repeatin’ tha title. However, it’s nice; good job! Hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and this continues… Good shit comin’ outta tha 3^rd verse, too; can’t complain! I like how y’all say, “Groove to tha sounds of tha TDL;” almost thought that was “TDF,” lol… And, with 1:42 remaining, we have an outro… My Rating: 4.1

Overall: I thought this was an excellent CD! Not much ta say, at times, but y’all know y’all did y’all thang! Feelin’ tha production tha whole way round and how y’all spit y’all gangsta tales on this! Great job!
