Review #1,571: Juvenile "Solja Rags"

Reviewed on 10.06.2016 (Review #1,571)

I have one review to get to until I get caught up with where I left off on, throughout my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon. This one’s Juvenile Solja Rags, released in 1997 on Cash Money Records & Universal Records & was produced by Mannie Fresh! Dealin’ with a lotta depression, right now, as still, at 28 years-old, I can get on tha phone & have them tell me to, “Hold on,” for 17 minutes and then, say they’re callin’ me back! I’m sick of not bein’ important; hate everything!!! Start Time: 3:59 PM | End Time: 5:28 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Ziggly Wiggly
>>> Sounds good, even tho now-a-dayz, Ziggly sounds more energetic and aggressive than this! Diggin’ this fa a “solja” intro! My Rating: N/A

02. “Solja Rag”
>>> Beat sounds nice ta hear, here, as it’s jammin’ fa tha hood… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ jammin’ ta hear… I know I done heard this before but my mood’s all thrown off from that phone call, so I’m just gonna chill and listen to tha music… Hearin’ tha hook and this definitely tha “solja” anthem, here! Even keepin’ it goin’ on tha 2nd verse, here; anthemic at its finest! I like how tha beginning of tha 3rd verse later turned into part of “Ha”, lol… My Rating: 4.4

03. “I Did That” feat. B.G. & Big Moe
>>> I thought this was gon sound slower ‘cause of Big Moe bein’ on tha feature, but it’s jammin’, soundin’ nice, like tha previous joint… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s good ta hear, of course! Hearin’ tha hook and it almost sounds like Boosie? An uncredited feature? Even more of this comin’ out; doesn’t sound like B.G. or Big Moe… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t too bad… Now, tha 3rd verse sounds like B.G. and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, here… It’s all about bein’ a “baby gangsta,” here, teenage style… Iz that dude on tha hook and 2nd verse Big Moe? Don’t even sound like Big Moe; weird feature… My Rating: 4.0

04. “Roll Wit ‘Em” feat. Big Tymers
>>> Beat sounds nice ta hear, as it continues ta deliver a hood vibe fa this CD… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice, keepin’ it gangsta… Tha hook sounds nice ta hear, here; good shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t too bad, here… Tha 3rd verse Mannie Fresh and it soundin’ cool ta flow through this track, here… And, tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse’s you, comin’ through fa tha hood, once again… My Rating: 4.1

05. “Pimpinabitch”
>>> Even more of a jam, here, as tha beat’s faster fa tha hood! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you holdin’ it down, consistently! Tha hook’s pretty nice, as you rattle tha title off; pimp-in’!! Tha 2nd verse’s keepin’ this goin’, as it’s slowly endin’? Wow, how quick! My Rating: 4.4

06. “Livin’ In The Project”
>>> Beat sounds slower, here, but still holdin’ it down fa tha hood at all times!! Nice job wit tha 1st verse, here; gotta luv what you spittin’! Hood teacher, here! Mr. Juve! My Rating: 4.2

07. “Who’s The M.F.”
>>> Beat ain’t too bad, here, but I’m feelin’ what you got goin’ on throughout tha 1st verse… I’m diggin’ tha hook, here, as we’re questionin’ who “the M.F.” iz! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and you doin’ a nice job wit it, as well; can’t complain! You got this shit on lock, consistently! And, good shit goin’ on wit tha 3rd verse, as well; can’t complain… My Rating: 4.3

½time: For bein’ so aggravated & fucked-up in tha head, I have ta say, this CD’s real consistent, here! Definitely feelin’ every track’s upbeat vibes, where they’re mainly for tha hood, here! A 4.2-rated CD; good shit! Keep tha shit goin’ fa tha hood, Juve!

08. “Hide Out Or Ride Out” feat. Lil’ Wayne & Turk
>>> Good shit on tha 1st verse, here, from Turk? Naw, it’s Wayne… Their voices so young, almost can’t tell… Either way, good shit! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice; gotta feel it! Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse and it sounds good ta hear, here… Aight, it iz Turk on tha 3rd verse! Almost thought he was on tha 1st verse, due to their young voices… Just like Wayne’s verse, this still sounds nice ta hear; gangsta shit at its finest! And, even more from you, here; nice! My Rating: 4.2

09. “Spittin’ Game” feat. Hot Boy$
>>> Sounds good wit tha beat and how tha Hot Boy$ are comin’ through on tha 1st verse, here… And, keepin’ it goin’ with this shit on tha 2nd verse, strictly spittin’ fa “dat Nolia,” of course… You’re doin’ a nice job wit this shit, as well, Juve… I ain’t know they had tha term, “Dope dick,” back then; a Juve discovery? Was it a decade before its time? Seems like a long track without a hook, from what I heard, but it ain’t that bad… My Rating: 3.7

10. “3rd World Solja” feat. Big Tymers & Magnolia Shorty
>>> This ain’t too bad of an upbeat vibe fa tha 5-0-4… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s decent, here… Hearin’ tha hook from you (iz it? Distorted?) and it’s aight… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from you and you got this continuin’… Tha 3rd verse’s soundin’ nice, here, as Mannie’s “wearin’ Girbaud jeans,” feelin’ fresh like his name; nice! Got tha Shorty on tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through, reppin’ hard fa tha N’awlinz hood, of course! My Rating: 4.0

11. “Welcome 2 Tha Section” feat. B.G. & Bullet Proof
>>> Kickin’ it off with this semi-eerie beat and B.G. on tha 1st verse, comin’ through, nicely… Tha hook ain’t too bad, here, holdin’ it down… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from Bullet Proof, here, comin’ through, representin’ like a Hot Boy should! And, here you are on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through, nicely fa “tha section,” here. My Rating: 4.1

12. “Money On The Couch”
>>> Not bad with tha beat, here, as you’re holdin’ tha south down… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s decent; I get it! You want tha “money!” Good job with tha 2nd verse, here; what more can I say? Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, here; diggin’ tha beat, as it reminds me of Morganza, LA rapper, P.I.R.’s music… My Rating: 3.9

13. “That’s How It Be Happenin’”
>>> Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds like one of those catchy anthems with tha repeatin’ title; good shit. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad, here; nice rappin’… Good shit goin’ on wit tha 2nd verse; scary about tha “heroin,” tho… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s all about what “be happenin’” wit tha drugs and shit… And, anotha verse, here, as you keepin’ this shit goin’; unstoppable!! My Rating: 4.4

14. “Solja Rag (Radio Version)”
See #2 fa tha review!

Overall: I thought you did an excellent job wit this one, Juve! Definitely a classic fa tha N.O. streetz! Beats were consistent and so were your hood tales! Keep up tha great work, as you always do! There’s plenty more in this marathon from you!!
